In computing, a daemon is a background process that resides in memory, remaining active and awaiting events that are triggered by designated actions. It becomes part of the user’s subconscious or default experience of the interface, guaranteeing a sense of control, though this control relies on what remains ambiguous in the background. The daemon, originating from demon, occupies the position of the interface, a metaphor that participates silently and remains unseen. The work adopts the metaphor of the daemon operating in the background to reveal a state of computer user experience in which non-human agents work behind the scenes, forming their networks as nodes.
